before founding the architecture + design studio in 2019, i worked in architecture firms and studied at universities in new york city, washington dc, philadelphia, cambridge, atlanta and beijing, china.  throughout this time, i thankfully had the opportunity to collaborate with and learn from a special group of peers.  today, i humbly and mindfully bring those influences with me when i approach a new problem to solve.

this awareness of collaboration and history is foremost in my mind when commencing any project at any scale.  i aspire to understand the client's lifestyle, needs and wants, all the while intending to challenge what we know about architecture.  you hire an architect because you fundamentally want and care for something different, no matter how simple that difference may be.  otherwise, you hire a builder to give you what he did in his last job.

therein lies the problem. every project is unique and requires a singular approach, concept, design and construction. my job is to create with you the cleanest, most intuitive architecture for your home or business.  our focus will be on spatial awareness, materials, craft and economy of means, however modest or limitless. our goal is for us at the completion of work to agree that there is and was no other way to do it.

i received my master of architecture from columbia university gsapp and my bachelor of arts from emory university. i am a member of the AIA; am NCARB cetified; and am a registered architect in maryland, the district of columbia and new york.  i have completed projects throughout the country, in maryland, the district, new jersey, new york, indiana and colorado.
